As of tomorrow, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, will be present at Automobil International (AMI) in Leipzig with three vehicle premieres. The highlight of the Porsche presence in Hall 3 is the new Cayenne GTS. Porsche is unveiling the open-top 911 Carrera and new Boxster right on cue for the peak convertible season. Both sports cars are models of intelligent lightweight design and are making their debut appearance at a German automotive trade fair.

“The AMI is an ideal venue for unveiling the new products for spring 2012 in front of a domestic audience and only a few kilometres from our Porsche plant in Saxony. The domestic market Germany is a known quantity for Porsche. That is why, with our partners, we are planning to invest more than 100 million euro in the medium-term in existing and new Porsche centres,” said Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Porsche Deutschland GmbH at the press conference in Leipzig.

The current sales figures substantiate these plans: in May, Porsche increased customer deliveries in Germany by 24 per cent compared with last year’s month to a total of 1.917 units. With more than 750 vehicles sold, the Cayenne continues to be the bestseller on the German market.

The GTS unveiled at the AMI is the latest and most emotional model in the Cayenne model line. Its looks alone leave no doubt as to its sporty focus. The front end with its larger cooling air intakes is borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo, specific side skirts and distinctly wider wheel arches in the same colour as the car shape the side view, the attention-getter at the rear end is the dominant roof spoiler with twin-wing profile. The bonnet conceals a 420 hp (309 kW) uprated 4.8-litre V8 engine. The NEDC fuel consumption is a mere 10.7 litres per 100 kilometres. An especially dynamically tuned engine and transmission design reinforces the emphatically sporty characteristics, enabling short bursts of speed at any time.

The Leipzig plant as well will be showcasing itself on the Porsche stand with interesting details on every facet of car manufacturing and the visitor experience programmes as well as the latest job offers and information on the plant expansion. The location is getting its own paint shop and own body assembly line for production of the new Macan model line. Approximately 1,000 new jobs will be created in the medium term.
