Mazda presents the European premiere of the new facelift version of the current Mazda2 at this year’s Paris Motor Show with many updates meant to make the 2008 World Car of the Year even more appealing. The recently-launched second-generation Mazda5 and the current Mazda3 are also a focus in Paris, both with updated common-rail diesel versions delivering reductions in fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, and Euro 5 compliance. The stand will also have detailed information about Mazda’s eco-friendly SKY Technologies, which will see global roll-out in the near future.

Mazda2 Facelift – Now even more Stylish & Comfortable
The new Mazda family face is introduced along with new exterior colours and wheel designs for a sportier look. On the inside, quality look and feel is improved by new materials, seat fabrics and colours, while body and suspension updates improve ride comfort. Rounding out the facelift package is an updated engine line-up with Euro 5 compliance for all powertrains, including an updated diesel that needs just 4.2 litres of fuel per 100 km, and produces just 110 g/km of CO2 (combined). And for even more comfortable driving a new automatic transmission will be offered.

Mazda5 Diesel – the Ideal Family Car: Practical, Roomy & Fuel-Efficient
The all-new Mazda5 sees its engine line-up completed with a 1.6-litre turbo diesel that delivers high torque driving fun coupled to low daily operating costs. The new engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission and needs about 15 percent less fuel per 100 km, and produces 13 percent less CO2 than the 2.0-litre diesel engine it replaces. With this powertrain the all-new Mazda5 with high practicality, and room for up to seven, is a truly family-friendly vehicle.

Mazda3 Diesel – Sporty and more Frugal
Paris also highlights an updated Euro 5 version of Mazda3’s economic 1.6-litre diesel now with new six speed manual transmission and above 12 percent higher max. torque for even more driving fun. Requiring just 4.4 litres of fuel per 100 km, and produces 117 g/km of CO2, this Mazda3 diesel version is an attractive proposition for customers looking for a sporty yet frugal compact.

Mazda SKY Concept – Next-Generation Powertrains
Mazda Motor Corporation will take a major step towards achieving its goal of reducing the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of its line-up by 30 and 23 percent respectively by 2015 with the launch of innovative Mazda SKYTECH in the near future. The Mazda SKY-G (petrol) and Mazda SKY-D (diesel) engines, both of which will reduce fuel consumption significantly compared to Mazda’s current engines while producing more power for no sacrifice in driving fun. This is joined by Mazda SKY-Drive, an all-new, six-speed automatic transmission that will reduce fuel consumption compared to the current AT, and deliver a smooth and linear driving feel.
